Masoud Ghafoer

Psychotherapist, Prevention Counselor

Dr. Masoud Ghafoer is an Afghan-American psychotherapist specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. He earned his doctorate in counseling psychology from California and a bachelor’s degree from the Netherlands. With a diverse career in substance abuse treatment, individual psychotherapy, and family therapy, he has worked with various populations. His doctoral research focused on the impact of past trauma on Afghan parenting practices.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ghafoer has served as an adjunct professor at the California School for Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. He has presented his research at numerous conferences, including the AAMFT and South Asian Conference. Fluent in Farsi/Dari, Pashto, Dutch, and English, Dr. Ghafoer provides mental health support to Afghan evacuees through the Operation Allies Welcome program and currently serves as a mental health clinician at the Afghan Coalition in Fremont, CA, offering telehealth services to underserved communities.
