Our new logo represents our core values. At the center is the shape of the country of Afghanistan, like a golden nugget, it represents the Afghan people. You can read many of their stories on our website because we exist to help them. Click here to find out more.
To best assist our fellow Afghans, scattered around the globe and often isolated and cut off from their normal support networks, we have united together. Our logo symbolizes this unity by the three circles, representing the heads of three people with their arms reaching out to each other. You can imagine them embracing shoulder-to-shoulder, looking down at the symbol of their common heritage, their homeland.
These three Afghan people are each colored differently to symbolize unity in diversity. The colors of the figures are based on the historic flag of Afghanistan.
The embracing figures represent the ideal of building a Coalition, as well as unity in diversity, and compassion. On the outside ring is the translation of “Afghan Coalition” in both national languages of Dari (left) and Pashtu (right).
Our old logo had a group of cartoon-like figures holding hands around the world with Afghanistan at the center. Both logos symbolize the concept of “coalition” and the importance of unity in diversity, but we believe the new logo better honors Afghan culture, history and people. We believe this new logo better represents our values and future vision.
Credit for Logo Design: Our new logo was adapted from the core part of the logo of the Grand National Movement of Afghanistan (GNMA).
Dr. Waheed Momand, our co-founder and president of our board, has been deeply involved in building a global network of Afghan leaders focused on helping the nation of Afghanistan. The GNMA is one expression of this global unity network. Dr. Momand also served as president of the GNMA, so with his blessing we were able to borrow, adapt, and simplify the GNMA logo to represent the Afghan Coalition.
Board Member Bruce Green, who has a background in graphic design, formed our new logo as a
